Mental Health Patient Rescued in Birtamode and Safely Transferred to Mayaghar Nepal, Itahari

The rescue operation was initiated and coordinated by Mechi Mahakali Buwari Samyukta Awaj (MEMBSA), with active support from local social workers and field coordinators. According to the organization, the woman was found in an extremely vulnerable condition on the roadside, prompting immediate intervention.

Key field-level coordination was carried out by Jhapa District Coordinator Ganga Devi Bhattarai and Co-Coordinator Roshan Khanal Adhikari, who were directly involved in the rescue and transfer process. Social worker Kaushal Kanchha also provided essential support during the operation.

Following the rescue, the individual was safely handed over to Mayaghar Nepal, Itahari, a residential care and rehabilitation institution that provides shelter and support services to individuals in vulnerable and high-risk conditions.

Mamaghar Nepal will now oversee her continued care, including protection, health assessment, and rehabilitation support in accordance with institutional protocols.

MEMBSA stated that while it continues to engage in broader advocacy on women’s rights, social justice, and policy-level reforms across Nepal, it also remains actively committed to responding to urgent, on-the-ground humanitarian situations.

The organization emphasized that such rescue efforts reflect its dual approach — addressing structural social issues at the national level while simultaneously ensuring immediate intervention for individuals in distress.

MEMBSA further reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no vulnerable individual in crisis is ignored, and that a timely community-based response remains a core part of its mission.
