Pregnant Woman’s Death in Mechinagar Sparks Calls for Fair Investigation; MEMBSA Submits Memorandum to Police

Mechinagar, Jhapa — The tragic death of 26-year-old pregnant woman Mousami Kayastha of Mechinagar–7, Satighatta, has drawn widespread public concern and renewed calls for a thorough and impartial investigation.

Kayastha, who was reportedly six months pregnant, was found hanging inside her residence. The incident has shocked the local community, raising serious questions and prompting demands for the truth surrounding her death to be established through a transparent legal process.

In response to the incident, Mechi Mahakali Buhari Sanyukta Aawaj (MEMBSA) submitted a memorandum to the Area Police Office in Kakarbhitta, urging authorities to conduct an independent, unbiased, and evidence-based investigation. The organization emphasized that while public voices are important in seeking accountability, lasting justice can only be achieved through the rule of law.

In its memorandum, MEMBSA expressed deep sorrow over the loss of both a young woman and the unborn child she was carrying. The organization called on law enforcement agencies to investigate every aspect of the case with sensitivity, professionalism, and without external influence or pressure.
