Bajura, Nepal – In one of Nepal’s most remote districts, children at Monteswari School in Ward No. 9, Badimalika Municipality have received vital educational support from Mechi–Mahakali Buhari Sanyukt Aaawaj (MEMBSA), an organization dedicated to empowering children and women across the country.
Through the personal initiative of MEMBSA founder Yaman Sharma Poudel, economically disadvantaged children and nine teachers were provided with T-shirts and warm clothing to help them attend school comfortably during harsh winter conditions.
The program, held on January 4th, 2026, was led by District Coordinator Satya Rokaya and other committed local MEMBSA members. Their work demonstrates the organization’s commitment to continuing a service model that began in Jhapa in eastern Nepal and has since expanded to far-western districts, including Mugu and Bajura, where access to education remains a challenge.
Despite the government’s policy of free education up to the middle school level, many children in these regions still face significant barriers, including lack of clothing, school supplies, and regular meals. MEMBSA’s intervention aims to fill these gaps, ensuring that vulnerable children can attend school regularly and safely.
School officials reported that the support has already increased children’s motivation and attendance, while also encouraging teachers through recognition of their work. The initiative highlights MEMBSA’s approach of not merely advocating for policy changes but actively supporting their implementation in Nepal’s most underserved communities.
About MEMBSA
Mechi–Mahakali Buhari Sanyukt Aaawaj (MEMBSA) is a non-governmental organization committed to improving educational access and empowering women and children in Nepal. Since its inception in Jhapa, the organization has expanded its reach to remote areas in western Nepal, including Mugu and Bajura, where government services are often limited. MEMBSA prioritizes sustainable, hands-on support over publicity, providing essential resources and guidance to ensure children’s education and welfare.
